Time to listen.
One still picture at a time, with details to discover as the story unfolds. Panels change only between scenes.
A little story. A shared moment.Still pictures, gentle narration, and a real ending. We’re creating a calmer kind of storytime, with room to imagine and a natural moment to put the screen down.
Being made for ages 3–5, and the grown-ups who love them.
We’re designing Kamivai for a calmer relationship with screens. Still illustrations replace constant visual movement. Gentle narration gives each scene time to unfold. Every story has a clear ending, with no autoplay, endless feed, or streaks encouraging children to keep going.

The narrator tells the story while children notice the picture and imagine what happens next.
Each story ends deliberately, with a question that invites children to talk, pretend, or carry the story into their own play.
Kamivai gives each scene time to breathe. Illustrations stay still during narration, leaving room to notice details, follow the words, and imagine what happens next. Pictures change when the story moves to a new scene.

Inspired by the Japanese art of paper storytelling, Kamivai lets a story unfold one illustrated scene at a time.

Still illustrations. A gentle narrator. Time to notice every little detail.
Still artwork and finite stories are at the heart of a deliberately unhurried experience.
Illustrations stay still during narration. Only the story panels change between scenes.
Spoken prompts and three picture answers invite children to think. Gentle explanations help every answer along.
An optional family voice is planned for parents who want to make storytime sound a little more like home.
Pause, replay, or pick up where they left off. No question timers, scores, streaks, or autoplay.
Optional Apple or email-link sign-in, voice consent, and account settings belong in a separate adult area. The first story needs no account.
Spoken instructions, big picture choices, and familiar icons. Spanish and English are planned for launch.
A reviewed story library is planned, starting with familiar tales. The introductory story is designed to stay available offline.
A listening check, a simple retry, and the standard narrator help families return to the same place in a story.
Larger text, spoken choices, and reduced-motion support are part of the plan, with layouts that adapt to their needs.
A little note: Kamivai is in development. These are the experiences we’re working toward; launch details may evolve.
A story doesn’t have to keep going
to stay with them.
We’re bringing Kamivai to life. Leave your name and email to hear about launch and opportunities to try it early.
For parents, caregivers, and curious grown-ups.Kamivai is an illustrated storytelling app being designed for children aged 3–5. Inspired by kamishibai, it combines still pictures, narration, and gentle comprehension questions.
Reducing compulsive screen use is one of our design goals. Still illustrations, no autoplay, and clear endings are the choices we’re making toward that goal. We haven’t tested whether Kamivai prevents or reduces addiction, so we can’t promise that result. Shared use and family screen-time boundaries still matter.
We’re still building. There isn’t a confirmed launch date yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll let you know about launch and early-access opportunities.
